December

Jim led 17 of us out through the backstreets of Fulford to the cafe at Crockey Hill. Unfortunately there was no camera to record the event and so instead, below is the photo of the intrepid team who turned up on 16th December to help tame the wayward brambles on route 66. (Then we went for mince pies and mulled wine)

November

Despite the dire weather forecast, 7 of us cycled along the riverside track to Skelton Garden Centre. We were lucky. It rained a little on the way there, scythed it down while we were in the cafe and the sun came out on the way back! Here we are crossing the Forth Bridge on the return journey.

October

14 of us cycled from the Millennium Bridge to Askham Bryan College and joined the students in their cafe.6 people then went on to cycle to Tadcaster while the rest of us returned to York by a shorter route!

September

15 of us cycled from the Millennium Bridge to Askham Bog, a wetland site with walkboards so that you can admire the scenery without getting your feet wet. We then went on to the Annex cafe in Copmanthorpe.

August

21 of us cycled the short distance along the Foss Islands cycle track, through Murton and in to the Farming Museum to sit in the sunshine. Most of us then did a further loop out to Stockton on the Forest.

July

15 of us cycled along the riverside and over the outer ring road bridge to Poppleton. The aim of the visit was to see the tithe barn which Sustans ranger Graham Long kindly opened up for us. It's an amazing building hidden away in a quiet corner of the village. Even if the barn isn't open, it's well worth the visit. We stopped in the Wyevale Garden Centre on the way back and then headed through the village of Knapton to Acomb and back to Clifton Bridge.

June

19 of us took part in the ride to Moorlands Nature Reserve to see the rhododendrons. The route was out along route 65 North by the river where the wildflowers in the meadow were a treat. After the Nature Reserve, a group cycled through Huby and Tollerton to the Dawnay Arms in Shipton while the rest of us headed back to the garden centre in Skelton.

May

20 of us met on the Millennium Bridge and set off for Hagg Wood in Dunnington where we strolled through the carpet of bluebells before moving on to the Sports Centre for a cup of tea.

April

21 of us met on the Millennium Bridge for a ride to Crockey Hill cafe, which has new owners but still serves mugs of tea and bacon butties. 10 of us took the longer route home via Weldrake. Again I forgot to take a photo at an appropriate moment. Here's one at an inappropriate moment.

March

21 of us met on the Millennium Bridge for a ride out to New Earswick Nature Reserve. We had a brief walk around the reserve (it was a bit too cold for an extended stay) and then some of us went to the cafe in the Folk Hall while the rest went out to the Aroma cafe in Haxby which gets top marks for the friendly and efficient way we were served. 14 of us went on to complete the grand tour through Strensall and Warthill. We'd cycled 24 miles by the time we got back to town.I forgot to take the photo when we were in the nature reserve. Instead, you can see us cycling along the lane out of Warthill

February

17 of us  met under Clifton Bridge in the teeth of a howling gale. The wind was so strong, some of us decided to skip the last two miles through Overton and head instead for the Garden Centre in Skelton. 11 of us battled the wind and made it to Il Treno restaurant.

January

14 of us met up at Morrison's, braving the icy conditions. The forecast for snow put a few of us off going all the way to Murton. We decided that the ride out to Osbaldwick had given us ample fresh air and we sped back to the comfort of Morrison's cafe. A few brave souls made it to Murton, despite the weather.
