April
17 of us cycled the 6 miles out to Hagg Wood in Dunnington to see the spring flowers. Wood anemones were in abundance and the bluebells were just beginning to make a show. It's thanks to the hard work of the 'Friends of Hagg Wood' that the flowers aren't smothered by brambles and rhododendrons. After a delightful walk through the wood, we cycled off to the sports centre in Dunnington for tea and coffee.

March
22 of us cycled the York orbital route starting from the Millennium Bridge. This 8 mile route is well signposted and is marked on the York Cycle map. The route crosses Hob Moor as you can see from the photo. We cycled the route in 3 separate groups led by Olwyn, David and Jim and tested out both the clockwise and anticlockwise directions. Front Street Acomb was a good half-way point for coffee.

February
Just in case we give the impression that all we do is cycle around York on its terrific Sustrans cycle tracks, here we are on 21st Feb preparing to tidy up part of the cycle track (between Layerthorpe and Heworth Green bridges). We cut back brambles including those in the retaining wall.

17 of us followed Olwyn on cycle tracks new and old to the smart new campus of Heslington East. From the cafe, we had a beautiful view of the lake in the winter sunshine. After the cafe, we all, including 2 trikes, skirted the building site to get on to the bridleway beyond the new campus. Some took a longer route back through Dunnington, while another group headed back to York through Fulford.

January
21 turned out for the first ride of 2012.Luckily it was bright and sunny for the trip along the cycle tracks and back lanes to the welcoming Aroma cafe in Haxby. We couldn't all find seats though and some of us hopped over the road to Vonnie's. After the cafe, some went back the way we'd come and others took the longer (13 mile) route back through Towthorpe and Warthill.
